Nursing News Now: CNC Resource Tool
Sammie Mosier
DHA, MA, BSN, NE-BC
Senior Vice President and Chief Nurse Executive
As we continue to evolve our nursing strategy to inspire our care teams and strengthen patient care, our pillars have evolved too. This month, I want to deep dive into the Leadership and Advocacy pillar.
Leadership and advocacy develops empowered leaders who can advocate for and support care team growth and wellbeing. We intentionally focus on the education and training of nurses to help ensure a strong pipeline of caregivers for years to come. Strong nurses and care teams means strong, successful patient-centered care. We’re also working closely with our nursing teams to develop innovative tools aimed at improving work processes to reduce administrative burden. We’re championing leaders who advocate for all nursing teams and amplify their distinct voices.
In 2024, our Leadership and Advocacy priorities are:
- Execute ER immersion 2.0 practices
- Implement employee wellbeing and workforce safety programs
Nursing leadership at every level: We support new and future chief nurse officers (CNOs) and associate chief nurse officers (ACNOs) through multiple development programs. We understand that better leaders help provide better colleague and patient experiences.
- Elevate the clinical nurse coordinator (CNC) role to support operations and new nurse transition
- Chief nursing officer (CNO) council
- Chief nurse coordinator (CNC) advisory council
- Chief and associate nursing officer (CNO/ACNO) development programs
Recruiting and retaining the workforce: We believe excellent people make excellence happen, so we recruit and retain excellent caregivers and exceptional clinical staff. We offer programs to support the emotional health and wellbeing of all colleagues, so they may continue to positively impact our patients, each other and the communities we serve.
Please continue to use your voice through your team meetings, engagement feedback, and shared governance councils to advocate for your needs. Thank you for the work and passion you bring to every patient!
