Nursing News Now: Unit of Distinction Submission

Sammie Mosier, DHA, MA, BSN, NE-BC Senior Vice President and Chief Nurse Executive

Happy 2024! The new year is a perfect opportunity to talk about the importance of wellbeing. We are committed to the care and improvement of human life — and that includes caring for you. There are people and resources ready to support you and help you be your best. Our goal is to look at your wellness holistically. Emotional wellbeing is important but not the only component of wellbeing, which is why HCA Healthcare offers support for financial wellness, your emotional wellbeing, family wellbeing, medical care, resources for relationship building, career development and your children's education.

A few of the resources I want to call out specifically:

  • You can access counseling services even if you are not enrolled in an HCA Healthcare medical plan. Counseling is available to all HCA Healthcare colleagues — plus all household members.
  • Counseling sessions are counted by topic. You have access to eight free counseling sessions per year, per topic.
  • Nurse Care offers additional support. Nurse Care is a free and confidential counseling service for full-time and part-time hospital-based nurses. When you call Nurse Care, you’ll speak with a master’s-level specialist trained to care for healthcare workers. If you are struggling with anxiety or the loss of a patient, are feeling overwhelmed or need help finding work/life balance, call (877) 797-8824 at any time to speak to a counselor or go to HCANurseCare.com for online resources and opportunities for education credits.

Here you can find a quick reference guide for our wellbeing resources. Please take advantage of those as they are needed.

My hope is that you feel supported professionally and personally and are proud to work at HCA Healthcare. I’m proud of the talent, skill and value you bring. I’m looking forward to another great year in 2024.
