Meet Javon, an RN from affiliate Aventura Hospital and Medical Center in Aventura, FL. Recently, Javon was in flight to Dallas, when an overhead page asked if there were any medical personnel on board.
Without hesitation, Javon pressed the overhead light and soon found himself assisting a passenger with respiratory issues. Javon, having ICU experience, introduced himself to the passenger, gathered her medical history, took her vitals and recommended for her to continue the oxygen provided by the airline and use her inhaler until arriving at the gate where paramedics would be waiting for her.
As he returned to his seat, airline passengers applauded Javon for his heroic effort. Once sitting down, his neighbor turned to him and asked, "What made you provide care without hesitation?" Javon could only think of one reason: "Above all else, I am committed to the care and improvement of human life."
