Sammie Mosier, DHA, MA, BSN, NE-BC
Senior Vice President and Chief Nurse Executive
During this season of gratefulness and reflection, I want to say how thankful I am to have worked alongside you this year. We have accomplished so much toward our nursing strategy: from researching, evaluating and scaling innovative models to implementing support programs for new nursing graduates. We have made progress in every pillar, and I am looking forward to what we will accomplish in 2024.
Key accomplishments:
- Advocacy and Leadership: Elevated the clinical nurse coordinator (CNC) role to support operations and new nurse transition as well as standardized the role throughout the organization and adopted a new nurse support mentorship program to support nurse transition and continued to promote our emotional wellbeing resources
- Staffing and Care Team Support: Introduced new roles to help support nursing workload including LPNs/LVNs, nurse externs, paramedics and patient care technicians (PCTs), implemented the Wound Image Capture program, upgraded medication scanners, reduced the amount of time spent uploading certifications using an interface loads HealthStream-acquired certifications and Facility Scheduler added more than nine features to improve the scheduling process and access.
- Education and Academic Partnerships: Expanded educational opportunities with Galen College of Nursing and invested in our state-of-the-art Centers of Clinical Advancement (CCAs) so our colleagues can expand their clinical knowledge in a safe and supported learning environment.
- Professional Practice: Celebrated incredible caregivers during our Unit of Distinction program, shining a light on the nursing excellence and maintained our focus on quality metrics for pressure preventionand falls prevention practices and partnered on initiatives like NV-HAP.
It’s impossible to list out each accomplishment from these areas and my goal is always for you to see these changes and improvements in your day-to-day activities. I cannot overstate my appreciation for you or how proud I feel of all our nursing teams. Please take time to enjoy your friends and family during this season. I am thankful for each of you.
